IF YOU LEAVE THIS PAGE KNOWING ONE THING,

IT SHOULD BE THIS:

My clients (let's call them "my people") are non-traditional, creative types looking for their love to be documented in a way that's true to their story and still makes them smile when they're 40 years into this adventure called marriage.

Like I said, I love working with unconventional couples. I think it's because I like doing things a little differently myself. So instead of going on talking about me, I'm going to give you my best advice for finding your perfect wedding photographer. Ready?

FIND SOMEONE YOU TRUST.

Find someone whose work makes your heart leap every time you refresh their website or Instagram feed (let's be real, we're all stalkers to some degree!).
That means you trust their style.

Find someone who you'd be willing to sit precariously perched on the edge of a mountain for a single shot if they told you to.
That means you trust their vision.

Find someone whose words you connect with online.
That means you trust their voice and beliefs.

Find the person you want behind the camera at your wedding because at the end of it all, you'll have your spouse, the memories, and those photos.

I'm so grateful to the couples who have entrusted me to capture their stories. If my work inspires you in some way, I'd love to chat!

YOUR LEGACY

Have you ever seen an old photograph of a wedding couple from decades ago — maybe of your grandparents or great-grandparents—and it’s just absolutely iconic? It’s crazy to imagine them ever being that young, and yet there they are, a whole vibe in their wedding attire and rocking that hairstyle. It makes you see them in a whole new light; they were once just like you.

It’s hard to imagine, but decades from now, someone is going to come across one of these photos of you. The photo may make them miss you, laugh, tear up, ask you more about what your wedding was like, and it will most certainly be used in a family tree school project somewhere along the line. These photos are for you to relive your best day, they’re for your family and friends to share in the memories, and they’re for the generations to come to remember you by. These photos are your legacy.

WEDDING ALBUMS

The best way to share your photos for years to come

This is how we bring all that legacy talk to life. Technology changes so rapidly, I can guarantee however you currently save images digitally will not be accessible in the future.

A printed photo album is how your children, grandchildren, and future generations will be able to see the photos of the day that brought their family together—the day that made them a family in the first place.

  • Kaylie is amazing.

Kaylie is amazing. I knew no matter where or when we got married, I wanted Kaylie to document our day. She is wildly helpful throughout the entire process – answered every single question I had, offered vendor suggestions (which we used), and perfected our timeline with us. Everything she did for us was outstanding. She is so organized and fun to be around. We felt like we were hanging out with a friend during our engagement shoot and wedding day. The number of photos she delivered to us was amazing, and we hardly waited for our galleries.

Don't skimp on a wedding photographer – invest in someone who you can trust to help with the chaos of your wedding day AND capture the best photos you've ever seen. (Seriously – she is so talented.) For us, that was Kaylie. She perfectly balances being front and center getting the job done and capturing behind the scenes moments. We will cherish our photos forever – they tell the story of our day perfectly.

We highly recommend working with Kaylie. I can't wait to find an excuse to work with her again in the future!

  • We feel like we gained a friend through the process of having Kaylie as our photographer.

My favorite part about working with Kaylie: ALL. THE. THINGS. Jed and I feel like we gained a friend through the process of having Kaylie as our photographer. We have stunning photos of our wedding day to keep forever as well as a new friend! She is so easy going, informative, and genuine. I cannot say enough positive things about Kaylie as a person and as a professional.

  • Every encounter we had with Kaylie was real, natural, and most importantly, it was fun. She, hands down, is the best.

I chose Kaylie as our photographer not only because she is beyond talented and amazing at what she does but also because of who she is. She is a beautiful person inside and out. She was so much fun and easy to work with and super funny (bonus). She made both my husband and me feel so comfortable and truly captured who we were as a couple. I can't tell you how many times I emailed her with the most random wedding questions from photos to what colors I should choose, she willingly helped me with anything I needed. Every encounter we had with her was real, natural, and most importantly, it was fun. She, hands down, is the best.

  • Kaylie does everything in her power to make your day special.

Kaylie is so easy going and does everything in her power to make your day special. And she is ALL OVER THE PLACE on your wedding day! And I mean that in a good way! She is there every second of your day and catches every moment. She didn't miss anything! Her pictures make you feel like you are right back in that moment.

Her pictures are not pictures you just get from any photographer. She invests her time in you once you invest in her. She won't let you down!

    Kelsey + Matt

  • Cheap pictures end up looking exactly that, cheap. So if you want good pictures then you need to book with a good photographer.

It was obvious to us Kaylie is not in this business for the money but because she genuinely loves it and that is so blatantly clear in her work. I was so excited to work with someone so talented. She was very joyful and clearly wanted to have fun while doing her job. Her instructions were always very clear and concise. I was very impressed with how professional yet fun she was. I was shocked when I received all my pictures because she captured moments I wasn't even aware she was there for.

I would highly recommend booking Kaylie. Cheap pictures end up looking exactly that, cheap. So if you want good pictures then you need to book with a good photographer.

  • There's something incredibly authentic about Kaylie's photography.

I cyber-stalked Kaylie before I'd even met her and fell in love with the honest moments she captures. Even the "posed" photos aren't posed. There's something incredibly authentic about Kaylie's photography.

She makes you feel comfortable. This is a big thing, especially for someone who feels incredibly uncomfortable in front of the camera. She makes you laugh, goes with the flow (when you don't really have a plan and are flying by the seat of your pants), and somehow manages to take really beautiful photos without realizing she has a camera in your face.

  • I'm elated I found her.

I’m elated I found her for a lot of reasons, obviously her talent is on point and incredible. But I think more importantly to me, it was her personality and soul and overall being I feel luckiest about. Sure, a photographer with great talent who’s kinda a doorknob of a person is fine. But with her, I’m sincerely excited to have her as a part of our day.

My favorite part about working with Kaylie for our engagement session was how natural/normal/comfortable Eric and I were able to be around her. Eric’s a pretty private person when it comes to being photographed (I was sincerely worried about his stamina for taking photos over 10 minutes) and she kept things moving, easy and was able to facilitate 90 minutes of Eric in full participation (girl deserves cocktails on me for life).

  • Having her be our photographer was one of the best decisions we made.

The primary reason we chose Kaylie was she was very quick to response and because a friend of ours had recommended her. Having her be our photographer was one of the best decisions we made during our wedding planning.

It was such a pleasure working with Kaylie. She took so many wonderful photos of our day. She was not only there to capture photos, but she was also interacting with our wedding party and families. She even made sure to check in on my husband and I that day to see if we needing anything. She truly cares about her clients and is worth every penny!

  • I have heard too many couples say that they wish they would have invested in a good photographer.

Kaylie has been amazing to work with since the beginning. She created a wedding day schedule for us, all while making sure she met our exact vision. Anytime I reach out to her, she is quick to reply and has been extremely helpful with everything wedding related. She is so easy to talk to and we immediately felt at ease with her.

Engagement and wedding photos were my top priority. I have heard too many couples say that they wish they would have invested in a good photographer. The photos are one thing that we will be able to look back on and cherish forever. Kaylie captured so many genuine moments in our engagement photos and I am so confident that she will do the same on our wedding day.

  • Her questionnaires and helpful links were a life saver!

Kaylie is so personable, thoughtful, and helpful. She was so responsive through the whole planning process. Kaylie also helped me think about the things I would have never thought of. Her questionnaires and helpful links were a life saver! After our first FaceTime call I knew our wedding would be in great hands.

Kaylie’s creative eye made for pictures we could have only dreamt of capturing. She captures the moments that are pivotal for a wedding. Every time we look back through her art we relive the day time and time again. Kaylie is such sweetheart with a talent that is unmatched!

    Amy + Blake

  • There were photos she got that I'm sure she was hiding behind a curtain or something.

My (now) husband and I took a few looks at Kaylie's website and knew we needed her to be our photographer. She was the only photographer we both were enamored with. Kaylie's honest and natural way of telling couples' stories through her photos is like no other, and that's why we wanted her.

I had no clue what to expect from a wedding photographer, but I'm pretty sure Kaylie blew any of those possible expectations away. I cannot say enough good things about her. Kaylie was so sweet to everyone at the wedding, was efficient (especially with group photos), and was always present. There were photos she got that I'm sure she was hiding behind a curtain or something. She always captured the moment, but was never disruptive to the moment.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I currently live in the Sheridan, WY area! My home base is a little mountain town in northern Wyoming named Story. Cute, right?! It’s right in between Sheridan and Buffalo.

I’m originally from Nebraska (GBR) and spend a lot of time shooting & hanging out there as well.

  • Oh yeah! I'm based in Sheridan, Wyoming but am completely enamored with travel and find it very inspirational & influential in my work.

  • I love being able to photograph adventurous couples & intimate, meaningful wedding days. I know we’re a good match when a couple is down to explore and not afraid to get a little dirt on their shoes; when they prioritize the marriage, not the wedding; and when they want photos of real moments, not just perfectly posed shots.

SHOOTING STYLE / I take a creative, journalistic approach to my photos. I strive to capture a wedding day exactly as it unfolds. To me, the photographs should snap you right back to that moment, not remind you of the 10 minutes it took to primp and prep to get the perfect shot that had no real meaning. I like to look for those little in-between moments of both you and your guests that make the day so special. Have no fear, (in case your mom is asking) we will still get those family photos!

EDITING STYLE / I try to keep my edits true to real life, but with a touch of warmth. I want your images to be a representation of how the day actually looked and felt.

  • I specialize in intimate and micro weddings in the mountains of Wyoming. I’m based near Sheridan, WY so the Bighorn Mountains are right in my backyard and are one of my favorite places to photograph wedding ceremonies and celebrations! However, I LOVE to travel and do take a limited number of destination and travel weddings each year!

I travel multiple times a year to both Jackson Hole to photograph weddings in the Tetons, and Nebraska which is where I’m originally from.

I serve couples in Sheridan and surrounding areas (Buffalo, Story, Big Horn, Casper, Billings), as well as across the states of Wyoming, Nebraska, Montana, Colorado, and worldwide.

  • The first wedding I photographed on my own was in 2013… whaaaa, time is flying! I had been a second shooter for other photographers for a couple of years before that.

When I began dabbling in photography, I shot everything: first birthdays, newborns, families, couples, seniors, corporate events, you name it. I wanted to try everything out to see what I was drawn to most, and that ended up being couples. There’s just something about getting to photograph two people who are in love and capturing that connection. Gahh I just can’t get enough!

  • PRE-SHOOT / Before your shoot or wedding, I want to be a resource for my couples to reach out to. I’ve shot so many weddings and sessions that I know exactly what to expect… you, on the other hand, are probably doing this for the first time. I’m here to walk you through! I assist with wedding day timeline creation, location scouting, outfit recommendations, vendor recommendations, can be a sounding board for your ideas, and help you out in any way I can.

WHILE SHOOTING / Everyone tells me how awkward they are in front of the camera, so trust me when I say you’re not the only one who feels that way! During engagement sessions, I get a read on how you interact as a couple and interject and direct as needed. I tend to not pose people, but rather direct them, giving actions and prompts that create real interactions and emotions. On a wedding day, I like to observe and photograph things as they unfold, but give input when needed. I like to think I'm pretty good at reading the room – I don't typically just blend into the wall but I'm also not overbearing on a wedding day. I am not afraid to move furniture around or tell people where to go and where to stand, but I also want to sit back and photograph your real interactions as they unfold. Throughout the day, I'm usually the one keeping track of the timeline and making sure you are where you need to be at the right time. During your ceremony, I try to become invisible and sneak around in silence as to not distract from the ceremony. I also want to have a good time and get to know your friends and family!

Here's what one of my past brides Kelsey said about me on her wedding day: "Kaylie is so easy going and does everything in her power to make your day special. And she is ALL OVER THE PLACE on your wedding day! And I mean that in a good way! She is there every second of your day and catches every moment. On our wedding day, I would be taking a selfie with my friends and she would make sure to catch the photo as well. She didn't miss anything!"
