Backyard Wedding | Leshara, Nebraska

Nikki and Don had been planning to have their wedding on her grandpa's farm, down by the creek. The water would beautifully backdrop the ceremony and the open field nearby would be host to their outdoor reception. Little did they know, the spring of 2019 would bring record breaking rain and flooding to many areas of Nebraska, including that piece of family land. The devastation was heartbreaking. Even though they weren't able to exchange vows where they had originally planned, Nikki and Don did still get married within view of that little creek, up the road in their own backyard. The personal touches and attention to detail transformed their yard into an absolutely stunning space where they were able to gather with friends and family and celebrate their marriage. We made sure to grab a golf cart and head down to the field that had been under water just a few months before to take sunset photos. As we made our way back to the reception, a wall of clouds rolled in and lightning danced in the distance.
